Main Street Siloam Springs, Inc. is seeking an eager, qualified professional to fill an interim position as Downtown Promotion & Events Coordinator through August 31, 2016. This position will help Main Street in the work of preserving and enhancing downtown Siloam Springs as a vibrant destination where our community springs to life.
The open position will offer 25 hours of work each week as Promotion & Events Coordinator. The compensation will be $15/hour. Expected start date is on or around March 1, 2016. Main Street’s current Director of Downtown Development & Promotion will help train and work alongside the interim Promotion & Events Coordinator for 10 hours per week through April 8. This position will work closely with the Main Street Siloam Springs Executive Director as well to complete all aspects of the organization’s work, with specific emphasis on events and promotion. The position will help plan and execute events in Main Street’s yearly calendar through August 31, including Girls Night Out on March 17, The Main Event on April 8, the Dogwood Festival Bed Races on April 23, Farmers Market Opening Days on April 26 and April 30, Invigorate Seminar on May 12, Girls Night Out on June 16, Invigorate Seminar on August 11, prep work for the Oct. 8 Homegrown Festival, and various other meetings and farmers market programs as needed. The position will also help keep financial records and execute sponsorship obligations, and promote events and downtown businesses through social media marketing.
Expected hours would include 5 hours per day, and must include the hours of 9am – 12pm to help with office coverage.
Main Street is seeking an applicant who will actively strive to understand the culture and brand aesthetic of the organization and of downtown, and who can bring creativity and enthusiasm to their role. Applicants must be organized, efficient, and able to think proactively and linearly about details and tasks for upcoming events and projects. This staff member will be expected at all times to maintain excellent communication etiquette, respect others and help other staff when possible, and seek to fulfill the vision and mission of Main Street Siloam Springs. Applicant should expect some level of physical rigor, including walking throughout the downtown district regularly, as well as lifting boxes and transporting materials as necessary for projects and events. Mileage will be reimbursed at the average rate.
Applicants with experience in event production, marketing and/or communications are preferred. Proficiency in Word and Excel is required.
